- 11/15/12 SESPE CALIFORNIA CONDOR SANCTUARY HIKE above Fillmore, CA (north of 1000 Oaks & Malibu) ...10 mile drive up a long, twisty, dirt road to get to trailhead...you can make it without 4-wheel drive (if road is dry) but it takes some work & is slow going; ...the trail itself is relatively flat..& isolated..not a lot of hikers in this remote area; takes a while to get close to the condor sanctuary area, and there's no guarantee you will see the condors; I did see two large birds circling in the distance, possibly the condors, but not sure...
