A random act of kindness
I was checking out with my groceries when I realized that I had unknowingly left my wallet at home. Naturally, I was embarrassed and told the cashier I would return the groceries before leaving. The next thing I knew, a young lady in line behind me chimed in and said that she would take care of my purchase so that I wouldn't leave empty-handed. I was stunned and very grateful. So after thanking her repeatedly, I asked her to jot down her name and address on a piece of paper so I could send money to reimburse her.
She took a piece of paper and wrote on it, gave it back to me, and I thanked her again before leaving. When I arrived home with my groceries, I took out the piece of paper and was shocked to see that the only thing she had written on it was, "Have a great day!"
I was so touched by this random act of kindness by a complete stranger that I immediately had to share this story with many members of my family. During tough times like we've seen the past few years, a story like this reminds us all of how kind, generous and charitable the good folks right here in York County can be.
