CHRISTMAS PHOTO ...Uncle Gary is my dad's youngest brother. He & Shirley raised Brian & Audra in Grand Rapids around the same time our family was growing up. Brian is my age. He & Audra still live in Grand Rapids today (married with children) . We had a lot of good times with Gary & Shirley & family..camping, traveling, going to the beach, even owned a couple of cottages together for a while (Campau Lake & Lake Michigan). And Gary & Jim (my dad) dabbled in rental property together for some time (they owned a big apartment building next to LaGrave CRC for many years, which was subsequently bought by Rich Devos (Amway) to be torn down to make space for the church. Gary has a good heart and has always been concerned about troubled children. He worked as a social worker at Wedgewood Acres & later in a public school for many years before retiring. His hobby is motorcycles, always taking an annual big motorcycle trip in the summer, including all the way to Alaska once. Sometimes Shirley goes with him on the back of the bike. Funny thing is I don't know much about Shirley. I think she is originally from New Jersey, and met Gary at Calvin College (I have a wedding pic of them, will post it when I find it). That's about all I know.
I haven't heard from them in a while, but hope all is well for them in Grand Rapids.
