12/10 I was at the last George Lopez show before the Christmas break and during his opening monologue he made a joke about how could Jesus & His disciples possibly not have been pot smokers ? He said, "Look at their lifestyle. They wore sandals & robes and all of them followed one man . He (Jesus) was the dealer."  Some people laughed but not that much. Its a bit irreverent to say the least, especially around Christmas, if not blasphemous.

This isn't about marijuana being good or bad, moral or immoral,  or whether it should be legalized or not, its about doubting the spiritual strength of Jesus and the disciples. Its about minimizing their perseverance thru difficulty without numbing their brains and bodies . It is comparable to doubting the suffering of Christ on the cross, or to say "He must have been drunk on the cross to deal with the pain." No he wasn't. He felt every single nail and all the pain, and FOR OUR SAKE. Nonetheless, Jesus did offer "transcendence" from the pain of this world thru companionship with the body of Christ and we have the Eucharist today as did they also join in communion with Jesus, including a little bit of wine. But it wasn't the wine that took them away, it was the brotherhood (& sisterhood, later) of Christ. That is our transcendence, not drugs or drunkenness. We suffer together as a whole body thus helping eachother cope.
