[foreword: all glory to Jesus Christ as we approach Easter, 2011 : this is not an endorsement nor criticism of any of the below groups or artists, simply reporting what I heard and saw about hip-hop at the two sessions I attended. As a Christian evangelist I recognize that "angst" is a part of the process of coming to Christ and even growing in Christ, and hope that hip-hop is another chapter in music history and American history that works for the glory of God in the long run. I myself grew up, in part, in Grand Rapids (MI), and in part, in Los Angeles (CA), even though I was born in Iowa City (IA), and have lived  (for several months, not years) in Costa Rica, Spain, Hawaii, & Philippines, and have spent significant time in many other places of the world and country. One thing I noticed Santelli seems to have a bias towards is the inner-city, and his own roots of New Jersey. He often speaks with pride and glory of Jersey and neighboring areas, but periodically would mention places such as "Des Moines, Iowa" as irrelevant and "white, Christian" ...he even referred to Switzerland as a bastion of "conservatism" and was so surprised to see a graffiti exhibition on display when he went there recently. Santelli apparently started out as a Rolling Stone reporter, and has worked for the Rock-&-Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and lived in Seattle (I assume he worked for the music experience there ). I appreciate Santelli's work and what he's trying to do for music , but he should work on his bias against "white", against so-called "square Christians", against mid-west, etc. These are called "stereotypes" that don't fit everybody (reminds me of the conservative square Iowa stereotype ignorantly highlighted in the movie "Field of Dreams" ...NO, NOT everybody in Iowa is like that..] And NOT everybody in Jersey and New York is hip & cool (nor in Los Angeles for that matter) . And by the way, you ignored "holy hip-hop" . Apart from that, keep up the good work, Santelli, and the museum. Remember, not everybody "white" is a stupid, square, Christian (in the negative sense of being Christian according to liberal media) from Iowa, even if they were born in Iowa. Check your self-serving prejudices at the door.

..didn't want to stay stuck in rut...had nas here....rock hall of fame brings in hip hop, grammy awards..world knows hip hop ... After we did whitehouse thing..state dept..calls..cultural diplomacy..obama revived it.. they asked me to organize hop hop to go to muslim countries.[my comment: hip hop to muslim countries as a form of diplomacy ?! Please explain how that would appease muslims or appeal to muslims who already think of America as godless] .as did armstrong & ellington 50 yrs ago ...I couldn't run it..

Where is hop hop now ? Ring tone..commercialize..sound same..its on life support now..homogenized..mentions nicky menaj opening for britney spears in upcoming tour..360 degrees ..piracy..economy .. Country music still buys cd's ..loyalty..not download..not w/ hip hop....need audience with means to support act ..when economy of art form goes away..trouble ..younger gen doesn't feel the concept of spportin.."
