To strengthen faith..why abraham is father of faith ..city of ur..where abraham lived..large markers..commercial city..where iraq is now..for majority of peoples in ur..thing that mattered most was prosperity...fertility gods..prostitutes..male & female..also human sacrifce incl infants...compare culture..similar..leave ..media.culture of consumerism, violence, fun..culture of death..lent season..we r called like abraham to leave these cultures..return to lord..then lord will show u..in gospel..Jesus revealed his identity..peter james john..why ? .to understand this gospel..see context..one day..going to jrslm..told them...will suffer..be put to death ..peter replied no..so little faith..they didn't have faith..Jesus has to strengthen by revealing divine identity so that they may hav faith in him..lent is time..prayer, fasting..to show we r holy people ? To be thinner ? I think that lent is spec time to do lenten resolutions to renew faith in lord..look deeply ...re rshp w/ lord..ask self..what kind of faith do I have..what do I do to reveal my faith..ystrday..young woman came to confession..no confession many years..lost faith..no church for years...one day lost mother car accident..boyfriend left me..drank..drugs.in deep desparation ..heard voice.."return to me"..that's why I come to u today..I see that .a miracle.god of love..do..u & me..willing to return to god ? Cont. Journey of lent..season of penance..repentance.love mercy forgiveness..we as Jesus..body & blood..ask Jesus to strengthn our faith..might.w/ own suffering..we may rise w/ Him, newnes of life" Gen 12.1-4: “Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you.“I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the communities of the earth shall find blessing in you.” Abram went as the LORD directed him. Ps 33:4-5, 18-19, 20, 22 R.
