DO WE, STILL TODAY, GET A FRESH OUTPOURING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ON PENTECOST ?
,,,I'm wondering..as we journeyed thru Lent ...and celebrated holy week & easter, we, symbolically, entered into the passion of Christ, including the suffering (to a tiny extent, at least that's what some of the fasting & other aspects of self-denial is supposed to partly represent)..and now as we approach Pentecost I am wondering if God actually is engaged in this "drama" that we re-create every year, and if we actually do receive a fresh influx of the Holy Spirit from God at the time of Pentecost ?
It would seem to be the only way for the liturgical year to remain dynamic, vital, & truly meaningful, rather than simply a celebration of something "historical." And I'm inclined to believe it is the former rather than the latter, just as I now believe that the body & blood of Christ that we consume at Eucharist IS THE ACTUAL body & blood of Jesus, not symbolic.
