MERRY CHRISTMAS
to ROGER GREENWAY
@ CALVIN SEMINARY
"Distinguished Professor of Missions
B.D., Th.M. (Calvin Theological Seminary,1958,1963)
Th.D. (Southwestern Baptist Seminary, 1972)
Roger Greenway’s father was a pastor, so he grew up in a parsonage and learned a great deal about the life and work of a minister by “osmosis.” His wife, Edna C. Beebe, was also a pastor’s daughter, so she knew what she was getting into when she married him.
Missions, evangelism, and caring for churches new and old were their life from the time they were married. They started out in Asia, later went to Latin America, and after a period of teaching Urban Missions and Evangelism at Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia, Roger became Executive Director of World Ministries of the Christian Reformed Church. After settling back in North America, Edna finished her Ph.D. in Adult Education and taught for 25 years at Calvin College.
Roger lectured at seminaries in many parts of the world, and spent ten years on the Calvin Theological Seminary faculty teaching missiology from 1990 to 2001. In 2003, he was Missionary in Residence at the Overseas Ministries Study Center and Research Fellow at Yale Divinity School, both in New Haven, CT. He brings his vast experience in teaching, missions, and church planting to students at CTS as he continues to teach in the areas of missions and global church planting.
"I am convinced that our school provides students with excellent opportunities to master the basics of Reformed theology along with readiness for practical ministries."
Roger and Edna have five children, born in three different parts of the world, and 18 grandchildren. One of their grandsons recently enrolled at CTS and they could not be more pleased. Their greatest joy is that all their children love the Lord Jesus and are involved in Christian ministries in North America and overseas. Roger enjoys fishing, and their two Labrador Retrievers."
