I had David Augsburger for a pastoral care class at Fuller. He had a well-read book entitled "Care Enough to Confront" or something like that. Of course, my dad is involved in pastoral care...actually spent his entire career in pastoral care, also as a CPE supervisor, so I understood pastoral care intrinsically from growing up in it. Later, I also did CPE at UCLA Medical Center.

However, I am not sure Augsburger and I got off to the right start. If I was expected to be a silent wallflower, they were mistaken. I have thoughts, opinions, ideas, and a voice, and a BIBLE ! I expect to be heard and will not be silented. Augsburger and some of the "boys" grew up in an era when women, children, & minorities were expected to be silent and submissive. I'm not a child anymore, and don't believe women or minorities should be silent & submissive to white men who grew up in the 50's .
